Popular Art Show Returns: Please Touch the Art
Published
The popular Please Touch the Art exhibit returns this summer and runs from June 2 - June 29 at the Thomas K. McKeon Center for Creativity on the 六合彩网址大全 Metro Campus.
The exhibit breaks the rules of traditional art exhibits by making art accessible, especially for visitors who are visually impaired. Guests are encouraged to touch the art and explore the exhibit using a variety of senses. Some of the artwork features high-contrast imagery or interactive components.
Please Touch the Art features the work of 11 Oklahoma artists including Tiffany McKnight. She created art with an interactive component inviting visitors to create their own 鈥渟cent pattern鈥 at a coloring station at the exhibit. Another piece from artists Leigh Martin and Lauren Zuniga features a collaborative fiber-based knitted sculpture and a poem/spoken word piece that provides a poetic description of what the sculpture looks like and the feelings it evokes.
The opening night reception with free refreshments is 5-8:30 p.m. Friday, June 2 and held in conjunction with the Brady District First Friday Art Crawl. Free limo bus rides to the Brady District are available that Friday and free parking is available in any of the 六合彩网址大全 lots.
In addition, several workshops are also planned during the month of June that are free and open to the public but registration is required. To register, email cindy.barton@tulsacc.edu.
- Zach Burns, who is legally blind in one eye, will host a photography workshop from 12-1 p.m. Monday, June 19.
- Show curator Kelsey Karper will moderate a panel discussion with the artists from 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, June 20.
